Whitehaven High School - Class of 1964
In memory of another fallen Tiger

Johnny Lomenick

The following has been received about Johnny's passing:

ALL,
This is John Lomenick's daughter.  My dad passed away February 14th.  I just found out today that the executor of his estate has contacted very few of his friends, although she assured me she would.  So, I am trying to find as many as I can to get the word out.  I found an email with all of you from his High School listed so I am sending this out from his email account.  If you are among those that was unaware, I apologize you had to find out in this manner and 4 months later.  He was a wonderful Dad.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Jeannine Lomenick-McGuill

Johnny Lomenick has passed away. I think Johnny was from the 'Class of 1964', snd left to join the Navy before graduation. I just know he went to Whitehaven and was everyone's friend and attended everyone's reunion! I can still see him dancing at the 'Class of 1963's Reunion'! His wife Rena had been battling Alzheimer for several years, and Johnny was right by her side. He brought her to many reunions with family and nurse, because Rena loved music and partee's. Rena passed away in September.

Cindy Miller, that is mentioned below was Rena's Daughter, and Johnny was still living with them. His cancer from many years ago had obviously come back, and he had developed a infection in his blood. His daughter was contacted in Austin, and luckily she got there a couple of hours before he passed away around midnight. I do know the funeral is Tuesday at the church mentioned in the email below with Cindy's ph# if you want more information.

I know that Johnny had many friends. Please forward this email to those not mentioned above.

God's Love & Blessings always MY FRIENDS!

From Jeannie Day:

This is so sad.  Johnny had become a constant part of our group and attended all of our gatherings.  He will be missed.  He was at our 45th right after Rena had passed away and told me how special we all made him feel and how much he loved being with all of us.  He was such a great person.  He is with his wife now.

From Susan Palmer Bayless:

Johnny and I were in freshman homeroom together .. darned if I can tell you who the teacher was, sorry.  I can see him right now waiting for school to start outside the classrooms. Always had a frequent and wonderful smile .. I believe he left WHS the middle of our freshman year.  He was the first I knew that quit school to join the armed services.  I hadn't heard from him since then until our 40th reunion ..  Art, Lucille and I were going to the elevator, we looked up and here came Johnny Lomenick!  It was really good to get to see him again and I'm so glad he came.  God's peace, Johnny.  You will always be Johnny to us!
