The Secretary of State signed the papers for Avenue Bank this week, after the bank fulfilled its promise of raising $75 million in capital, says Ron Samuels, CEO, president and board chairman.
The beginning treasure chest of capital probably sets a state record, says Katie Edge, former deputy state banking commissioner and finance lawyer. "To my knowledge it would be the most capitalized start-up bank in the state of Tennessee," Edge says. The bank also will be the first start-up local bank with a laser-beam focus on Music Row and the entertainment industry. Other local, regional and national banks in Nashville have Music Row ties, but none have come to the table with such a strongly-articulated entertainment industry persona, Edge says. Some of the board members with a formidable music industry presence include Kix Brooks, a member of the country music duo Brooks & Dunn; Joe Galante, chairman of Sony BMG Nashville; Ken Robold, general manager of Universal Music Group; Steve Moore executive vice-president of AEG Live! and high profile entertainment lawyer, Joel Katz. |
